December 12, 2023Mondo Duplantis, Swedish pole vault super star and PUMA Athlete, has been named Men’s Field World Athlete of the Year 2023 in Monaco. The recognition was part of the World Athletics Awards 2023, where six elite athletes, including Duplantis, were celebrated for their remarkable contributions to the sport.

For the first time in history, World Athletics has awarded not two but six remarkable athletes with the title. The decision to modify the World Athlete of the Year honors for 2023 was prompted by the remarkable performances. The diverse range of disciplines and skill sets made it impossible for voters—athletes, fans, and World Athletics Family members — to choose only two athletes (one female, one male). Consequently, the awards were divided into three event categories: track, field, and out of stadia.
The Award marks Mondos third title in four years! In 2023, he was able to improve his world pole vault record both indoors and outdoors, retaining the world title, and achieving 20 clearances of 6.00m or higher.
