2018 was a historic year for PUMA! Not only did we celebrate 70 years of the PUMA brand, but we also returned to the basketball court!

Apart from celebrating these milestones, we continued to be Forever Faster in sports, fashion and business with great new athletes, partners and products!

January

Cracking 4 Billion euros in sales

We started 2018 with new personal best: for the first time ever, we cracked the 4 billion euro sales mark. For 2017, our full-year sales increased by 16% to 4.1 billion euros.

February

Partnering with AC Milan

PUMA and AC Milan: both passionate, iconic in ambitious in football. A perfect fit, and a perfect partnership.

As of July 2018, we became the official supplier, global technical supplier and official licensing partner of AC Milan, one of the most legendary football clubs in the world with a 119-year-old heritage.

Usain, the football player

After ending his unmatched professional sprinting career in 2017, Usain Bolt did not even think twice about retiring from professional sports.

To improve his football skills, he trained with Borussia Dortmund in some of the world’s best facilities and with some of the top players.

A new era of sports fashion

Inspired by 90s running silhouettes and the PUMA x McQueen collaboration, we launched the Thunder Spectra. With colorblocking, material mixes and bright accents, Thunder Spectra took an unconventional approach to design.

A new building at PUMA’s headquarters

Almost two years after starting construction work at our headquarters, our new office building became ready for our employees to move in.

With an area of 10,200 m² and six floors, NOHO (North Herzo), as the extension to our office building is called, can accommodate up to 550 employees. A bridge on level three, crossing the busy highway below, connects the new and the old office building.

 

June

Shooting hoops again

After almost two decades of absence we returned to the Basketball court! Entertainer and cultural icon Shawn Carter, aka. Jay-Z supports us as the business category’s Creative Director.

The first athletes we work with are rookies Deandre Ayton (Phoenix Suns), Marvin Bagley III (Sacramento Kings) and Zhaire Smith (Phoenix Suns).

July

Three World Champions

Our PUMA football players Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud and Adil Rami won theWorld Cup with France, wearing the PUMA FUTURE and PUMA ONE football boots. Griezmann also became one of the tournament’s top scorers.

August

Luis Suárez joins us

We signed Barcelona and Uruguay top striker Luis Suárez. Having won 17 trophies in his career so far, he is one of the best football players in the world.

September

Teaming up with Karl

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of our iconic Suede, we teamed up with fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld, creating a whole collection around the PUMA x Karl Lagerfeld Suede.

October

Happy Birthday, PUMA

We celebrated our 70th birthday! On October 1st, 1948 the PUMA brand was officially registered as a trademark at the German Patent and Trademark Office.

As a present to ourselves, we teamed up with international supermodel Adriana Lima for a long-term partnership. Adriana is the new ambassador for our women’s training business.

And if that was not enough, we also launched #REFORM ! Inspired by our bravest athlete Tommie Smith and his “silent gesture” at the Olympic Games in Mexico 1968, we created this platform to achieve faster progress towards universal equality and other social issues important to our brand ambassadors.

The first collection by PUMA and Selena Gomez

We launched a long-awaited collection designed together with Selena Gomez. SG x PUMA “Strong Girl” comes with confident colors and bold silhouettes, highlighting every woman’s inner strength.

December

Ada Hegerberg receives Ballon d’Or

Our PUMA football player Ada Hegerberg received the Ballon d’Or for being the best female football player in the world. She is the first woman ever to get the award.
