He is widely regarded as the greatest player of all time and was among the most successful and popular sports figures of the 20th century. On the day of the legend’s 80th birthday, PUMA remembers the great successes of this King in football.
I was lucky to spend a week on sales tour with Pelé, so I got to know him a little - that guy always kept his cool.
At the World Cup in 1970, Pelé was crowned “Player of the Tournament” while wearing PUMA KING boots. For him and the Brazilian team, it was the country’s third World Cup title. Pelé, by the way, is the only player in history to win three World Cups. Until today he is the all-time leading goalscorer for Brazil with 77 goals in 92 games. After finishing his career, Pelé was officially honored as “Football Player of the Century”. Overall, Pelé is one of the most successful goal-scorers in the world, scoring 541 league goals in 560 games, a total of 767 in 831 official games.

Brazilian graffiti artist Eduardo 'Kobra" paid a homage to the football legend Pelé with a mural in the coastal city of Santos, ahead of the footballer's 80th birthday.
