PUMA Team Borussia Dortmund wins Germany’s DFB Cup

May 13, 2021

PUMA Team Borussia Dortmund on Thursday won the DFB Cup by beating RB Leipzig 4-1 in an exciting final in Berlin. The win by BVB adds to what is already a fantastic week for PUMA Football in which Manchester City claimed the Premier League title.

BVB took an early lead after only five minutes when PUMA player Marco Reus managed to snatch the ball in midfield, setting up Jadon Sancho to score from outside the box. Norwegian striker Erling Haaland scored the second goal in the 28th minute. Even before the half-time whistle, Borussia scored a third time, with Reus once again outwitting Leipzig’s defense before passing the ball to Sancho to score.

In the second half, Leipzig upped the pressure and pulled back one goal in the 71st minute but Dortmund’s defense kept its cool. With just 3 minutes left to go in regular time, Haaland made it all clear, when he scored Borussia’s fourth goal of the evening.

Overall, Dortmund was quicker in shifting from defense to attack and used its chances more efficiently. Because of the pandemic, there were no fans in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium but after the final whistle the sound of cheering Borussia players filled the venue.

For Dortmund it’s the fifth time the team lifts the prestigious DFB Cup, which has been played since 1935.

Congratulations from your PUMA Family, BVB!
