PUMA published its first quarter 2019 results

PUMA started the year 2019 with its strongest quarter ever.

Sales in the first quarter reached €1,319 million and our operating profit (EBIT) increased to €142 million, levels never seen before in the history of our company.

“The first quarter of 2019 was the best quarter PUMA has ever seen,“ said PUMA’s CEO Bjørn Gulden.

We grew in all regions and product segments, though we experienced the fastest growth in the Asia/Pacific region, driven by China. Revenues also grew by double digits in the Americas, while growth in the EMEA region was solid.

Apparel was once again our fastest growing product segment. In terms of categories, Running and Training, Teamsport, Motorsport and Golf on the performance side as well as Sportstyle all recorded strong growth.

“The growth in all regions and all product divisions shows that we continue to make progress. Even if we have nine more months to go and despite a lot of uncertainty in the market, we feel comfortable that we will achieve our guidance for the full year,” Bjørn added.

As a quick reminder: earlier this year we guided for 10% sales growth (adjusted for currency effects) in 2019 and an EBIT range between € 395 million and € 415 million.
