PUMA Athlete Mondo Duplantis broke his outdoor pole vault world record by one centimeter

July 1, 2022

Mondo was the man of the hour 👑! Again! With his 6.16m (more than 20 feet, 2 inches) clearance at the Diamond League meeting in front of his home crowd in Stockholm, Sweden, he beat his outdoor pole vault world record by one centimeter last Thursday. The PUMA athlete now has broken the indoor and outdoor world records a combined six times in the last two and a half years. Mondo is truly BORN TO FLY and we can’t wait to see what he has in store this month at the 2022 World Championships in Athletics in Eugene, USA.

The 22-year-old Swede has recalibrated the limits of the pole vault. In Stockholm the Olympic and world indoor champion took full advantage of near-ideal conditions – and the inspiring home-town setting. Mondo sailed over 5.63m, 5.83m, 5.93m and 6.03m before taking his two attempts at 6.16m. “I wanted to come here today and do something special. I felt in shape and I have great support here in Stockholm where I live now. It’s my home, so it means extra more.”, Mondo said after the competition. “This is the time I wanted to be in my best shape. I feel like I am definitely in shape to win the title and maybe do something special in Eugene.”, he continued.

We have been warned! 🦅

Congratulations, Mondo, from your PUMA Fam!
