Stop Sitting, Get Moving!

June 13, 2025

Let’s be real: most of us spend a lot of time sitting. At breakfast. On the commute. At our desks. And yep, on the couch at night. In fact, people in Western societies are clocking over 10 hours a day sitting down.

This isn’t just about stiff necks or tight hips – it’s a real global issue. Physical inactivity has quietly become one of the biggest health threats of our time. But here’s the good news: we can do something about it. And at PUMA, we are.

Movement is in Our DNA

At PUMA, we don’t just make gear for champions – we live and breathe movement. We believe that being active isn’t a chore; it’s a lifestyle. It’s part of how we show up for ourselves, our communities, and our planet.
That’s why we’ve teamed up with the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) to back the first-ever Physical Activity Impact Report: Moving the World Towards an Active Future. It’s packed with eye-opening data – and a major wake-up call.

The headlines? Over 1.8 billion adults and 80% of adolescents aren’t moving enough.
That inactivity is already contributing to a surge in chronic diseases – and could cost us over 300 billion USD a year by 2030. Let that number sink in. That’s not just gym memberships missed. That’s potential, productivity, and life quality lost on a massive scale.

Wait, what could $300 billion do instead?**

(Just imagine…)

  • Renovate every school in the world – complete with clean water, WiFi, and electricity (according to UNESCO).
  • Fund half of Germany’s energy transition to renewables.
  • Cover France’s entire annual healthcare budget.
  • Finance 10 years of NASA missions – including moon landings and Mars plans.

So yeah… we’d rather move than miss out.

From Global Mission to Daily Motion

At PUMA, we’re not just talking the talk – we’re literally walking, running, jumping, stretching the walk.
Take a stroll (or sprint) through Herzogenaurach HQ, and it’s obvious: movement lives here. From our morning swim lane reserved just for employees, to lunchtime padel matches, to post-work HIIT, yoga, or Pilates – everyone finds their rhythm. Prefer to skip the gym? No prob – there’s a physiotherapist and nutrition consultation on campus, too.

We’ve got:

Some train for speed. Others walk to clear their heads. Whatever your pace, every step counts.

Moving Minds, Not Just Bodies

The impact goes beyond fitness. More movement means better mood, sharper focus, and even protection against depression, dementia, and heart disease. Sometimes, the fix isn’t medicine – it’s momentum.
That’s why we’re not stopping at the office. In India, our Let There Be Sport initiative is bringing physical activity into classrooms – not just as a break between math and grammar, but as a core part of learning.
And at events like the Singles Run in Bengaluru, co-hosted with Bumble, we saw how movement creates connection. Strangers became teammates. Jogging became bonding. Movement made magic.

So… What’s Your Next Step?

This isn’t about perfection. You don’t need to be a marathoner or a mountain climber. But if we all added a few more steps, one walk, one stretch, one dance break at a time – we’d start changing the stats.
Because at PUMA, we believe in one simple truth:

Every. Step. Counts.

Let’s move the world – starting with ourselves.
