October 10, 2022We sat down with PUMA Ambassador Leon Draisaitl to talk about his motivation to keep performing at the highest level and what greatness means to him. Draisaitl, named the most valuable player of 2020, draws inspiration from those around him as well as other great athletes hung on the walls of PUMA. Click below to watch the interview!
“Individual awards are always great. You know, they show you that your hard work has paid off. But I’m in a team sport, right? So, winning the ultimate trophy as a team is more important at the end of the day.”
The NHL is the ultimate goal for ice hockey players and Leon notes his gratefulness for being able to compete at such a high level. He discusses how surreal his first NHL game was: “That first game when you face off against someone that you used to play on Playstation or Xbox with, that was very special.” Ahead of the new NHL season, with his first game on October 13th, Leon is looking to keep on top of his game and emphasises the importance of his mindset and adapting to change after his injury earlier this year.
“Greatness is consistency. So, I’m preparing for next season like I do for any other season and to me it’s important to do it all over again. You know, show people that I’m capable of being at the top of my game every single year every night.”
