The incredible European Championship in England last year gave women’s football another boost. At major tournaments as well as in the Champions League and national leagues, spectator numbers in stadiums around the globe are on the rise. At PUMA, we are thrilled to see these developments because we looooooooove football. In the coming months leading up to the Word Cup in Australia & New Zealand in July, CATch Up will introduce you to some of our amazing PUMA athletes in more detail. First up is…Laurina Fazer.

“I think women’s football is really taking off.”

Welcome to Herzogenaurach, Laurina!

Laurina: Thanks, it’s my fist time here. I’m very happy to be part of PUMA. You really feel that you are a part of the family and you really made me feel welcome. That’s important to me.

What are your goals for this year?

Laurina: I hope that I’ll be selected for the World Cup and that I’ll have a good season at my club.

Who are the favorites for you at the upcoming World Cup?

Laurina: I think there are quite a few. I hope that France will be one of the favorites. But also nations like the United States, Sweden, the Netherlands or Germany, certainly have good chances to win the World Cup title this year.

Women’s Football is becoming really popular here. Do you notice that in France as well?

Laurina: I think you saw it last year during the Champions League matches when we played at the Parc des Princes stadium, it was pretty much sold out. I think women’s football is really taking off.

Do you get to see your colleagues of the men’s team a lot at PSG?

Laurina: We don’t see each other that often because we train separately. But sometimes we meet each other during photo or video shoots of the club.

What was it like to get the call for the French national team?

Laurina: It was the press officer Juliette at PSG who called me and told me about it. We were just coming back from a match in Sweden. We had just landed when she called. I was so happy. My parents immediately called as well as my manager Nizard. It was a fantastic day!

What are you doing to balance your hard training schedule with your private life?

Laurina: I really focus on relaxing and recovering after the training sessions. I also spend a lot of time with my family because I think that’s really important. I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with them when I was in the U19 team, so now that I am a professional player, I have more time and I make use of that.

Do you have any other hobbies?

Laurina: I love music! 🙂

Thanks for the chat, Laurina! The PUMA fam wishes you all the best for the rest of the season and many more sporting highlights this year!
