PUMA Athlete Mikael Lindberg Claims Victory at the Bain’s Whisky Cape Town Open

February 13, 2024

With a 30 foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole, Mikael Lindberg secured a big win at the Royal Cape Golf Club. Going head to head with South African Ryan van Velzen to claim the title, Mikael led the tournament as he headed into the final round and to victory. 🏆

In a close competition, Lindberg started the final round of the tournament in the lead. After making a mistake on the third hole, he quickly recovered by scoring five birdies in the next seven holes, but was still one stroke behind his competitor. He managed to regain the lead by scoring birdies in the 16th and 17th holes, but unfortunately struggled on the final hole, taking three putts to finish. As a result, both Mikael and Ryan had to return to the 18th tee, where Mikael claimed his victory.

The 31-year-old Swede’s victory means he is now second place in the season-long Road to Mallorca Rankings.

“It feels so good to play well at this early stage of the season. I’ve been here a couple of times before and I’ve always played well on this course. I had a bogey at the beginning of the round which I felt took a little bit of pressure off me and after that I started to play a lot better. It’s a very big win for me.”

Congrats on the win, Mikael! ⛳️
