Outdoor Heritage Through a Golf Lens

Inside the PUMA x Realtree collaboration bringing camo to the course.
September 1, 2026
Since its founding in 1986, Realtree has established itself as a world-renowned camouflage and outdoor brand. This expertise is coming straight to the greens in the latest collaboration with PUMA Golf: Precision in the Wild. A celebration of 40 years of excellence and the result of a shared passion for detail, the collection explores outdoor heritage through the lens of golf aesthetics.
We sat down with Michael Diaz, Director of Marketing at PUMA Golf, to get the Realtree tee.
Please introduce yourself and tell us about your role. MD: I’ve been with PUMA for 15 years now and have had the opportunity to work across multiple roles within our golf marketing organization, spanning both COBRA and PUMA. I’m Michael “Mike” Diaz, and I lead brand marketing for PUMA Golf, overseeing our strategy across everything from athletes and product launches to campaigns and how we bring our brand personality to life.
Known for pushing the boundaries of golf style and equipment, what is the best part about innovating with PUMA Golf? MD: Innovation at PUMA Golf and in our sport can mean a lot of things. On the product side, it’s about pushing technical boundaries, designs, colors and creating performance products that can stand up to, or exceed, our competition.

From a marketing perspective, it’s about finding new ways to tell those stories and make people care about the brand behind the product. My favorite part is that we never feel like we have to follow the traditional playbook.
Every season gives us another opportunity to try something new and keep golf feeling fresh.
Can you tell us the story of how this partnership with Realtree came to be and how it has evolved?
MD: Honestly, I can’t take credit for this one. Our Director of Apparel, Chris MacNeil, noticed how camo was showing up across sports, streetwear and culture. There was an opportunity to approach it differently in golf.

Realtree’s camo realism felt distinctive, and Chris reached out to their team. They were all-in. When he first brought the idea to me, I’ll admit, I was skeptical. It felt pretty aggressive for our audience.

Then we did our homework and found out that our consumers have a strong connection to both golf and the outdoors, particularly sports like hunting and fishing. The more we looked, the more the partnership made sense.
Then we brought it to life at the 2025 WM Phoenix Open, and the reaction was pretty incredible.
“Sometimes the best ideas are the ones that make you pause for a second and say, “Are we really going to do this?”
Let’s talk about the title of the collection: Precision in the Wild. Can you unpack this a little?
MD: Precision in the Wild is about preparation. Whether you’re heading into a round of golf or into the outdoors, success comes down to having the right plan, the right equipment and the right gear for whatever nature throws at you.

That’s where the idea gets interesting for us. We took the mindset of the outdoors and dropped it into golf – a sport that is, at its core, played in the wild.

The collection brings PUMA Golf and Realtree together through that shared pursuit of detail, featuring Realtree’s Legacy pattern, created to celebrate 40 years of the iconic design that started it all. It’s outdoor heritage, seen through a golf lens.
What is it like blending Realtree’s iconic patterns with golf silhouettes? Any favourite design decisions from this process?
MD: There’s something powerful about taking a pattern people instantly recognize and putting it somewhere they might not expect to see it.

The real challenge was finding the right balance between letting the pattern make a statement while still making the product feel unmistakably PUMA Golf. I think the team found that balance really well.
Can you share anything about the technical details we will see in the different pieces that make them durable, comfortable and performance-ready?
MD: There’s a little bit of everything in the collection. CLOUDSPUN brings that soft, comfortable feel we know golfers love, while pieces like the fleece vest add warmth and versatility for changing conditions.

Then you have styles like the T-shirt, Helsinki golf shoes and hats that blur the line between performance and lifestyle. So overall, it gives golfers plenty of options through a blend of performance and styles that bridge sport, lifestyle and fashion trends.
The Legacy pattern was created to mark Realtree’s 40th anniversary and nods back to the original pattern that started it all. What did it mean to build this collection around that brand heritage and history?
MD: It gave us a lot of confidence.
When you’re working with a pattern this recognizable, you don’t need to reinvent it. You need to respect what made it iconic and find the right way to bring it into a new space.
We were also honored that Realtree trusted us to bring the Legacy pattern into golf. That trust says a lot about the relationship between the two brands and gave us the freedom to do something special with it.
Golf is played outdoors, but we don’t always consider that it is a sport with a connection to nature. How does this collection celebrate that connection?
MD: That’s one of the things I love most about golf. You’re outside for four-plus hours, competing, catching up with friends and family, having refreshing beverages, betting, poking fun, and creating memories along the way. I always say golf isn’t about escaping life (although sometimes it feels that way), but rather one of the best ways to experience it. That’s why golf is so special.

Golf also gives you a chance to slow down and actually notice where you are. The grass under your feet, the trees around you, the morning dew, the sunset at the end of a round. It’s all part of the experience.
Precision in the Wild is really about embracing that side of golf. Because at the end of the day, the fairway and greens are just small parts of the wild.
The collection will be on display at the final leg of the Tour Championship in Atlanta, Georgia, where PUMA players JJ Spaun and Gary Woodland will be battling for the crown of the 2026 PGA Tour season.
