PUMA High Jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh is the youngest ever athlete to win a Diamond League Event

Think back to the time when you were 17 years old – what were you doing with your life? What were your achievements?

PUMA track and field prodigy Yaroslava Mahuchikh can call herself (shared) U20 World Indoor Record holder in high jump (1.99m), Youth Olympic Champion and U18 European Champion 2018.

Since last week, she can also call herself the youngest ever athlete to win an event in the IAAF Diamond League, an annual series of global elite track and field athletic competitions.

The 17-year old Ukrainian made her Diamond League debut in Doha, Quatar a smashing success by jumping 1.96 meters and winning the high jump by two clear heights. Runners-up Mirela Demireva from Bulgaria, Erika Kinsey from Sweden and Ana Šimic from Croatia each jumped 1.91 meters.

With her win, Yaroslava sent a strong message to her competitors: the outdoor season has only just begun and in her first competition of the season, she already set a new outdoor personal best and can call herself the youngest ever winner of a Diamond League Event.

Write down that name, there’ll sure be more to come!
