20 Years in the Fast Lane: Scuderia Ferrari HP x PUMA
From Supplier to Premium Partner
September 4, 2025
The grandstands glow in Ferrari red as Michael Schumacher takes the F2005 onto the track. On his feet: PUMA shoes for the very first time, developed for maximum sensitivity on the pedals – and stability in every single braking maneuver. For PUMA, it was the beginning of a new era – and the start of a partnership that, two decades later, has become one of the longest and closest in motorsport.

The Cat Becomes More Visible
What began as a classic supplier contract evolved step by step. Ferrari tested not only the quality of the products but also the reliability of the partner. Over the years, PUMA expanded its range – from shoes to race suits and added the replica collections for the fans.In 2024, the first rights of the new premium contract came into force, and since 2025 it has been official: PUMA is a Premium Partner of Scuderia Ferrari HP. This not only means greater visibility – with the PUMA Cat now prominently featured on the car – but also more opportunities for collaboration. “We can work even more closely with the drivers, tell our own stories, and fully immerse ourselves in the Ferrari world,” says Thomas Josnik, Vice President BU Motorsport. A milestone built not only on trust but also on a shared vision: connecting technology and lifestyle.

Drivers, Faces, Stories
In 2007, Kimi Räikkönen celebrated his World Championship title in PUMA red, followed by Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel relying on the race gear from Herzogenaurach. Today, Charles Leclerc embodies the face of a new generation – not only as a Scuderia Ferrari HP driver but also as an official PUMA ambassador. This allows him to be featured in global campaigns far beyond the pit lane – from training content to fashion collections.Recently, another icon joined him: Lewis Hamilton, who blends motorsport and fashion like few others. At his home race in Silverstone, the first Special Edition with him was unveiled – a taste of what’s to come with Hamilton’s passion for fashion and design.
“Hamilton brings an incredible passion for design and fashion – and that fits perfectly with both PUMA and Ferrari,” emphasizes Josnik.
The level of engineering in a race suit only becomes clear on closer inspection. A modern race shoe in textile weighs just around 180 grams – lighter than a smartphone – and yet must guarantee heat protection, grip, and stability. In the cockpit, braking maneuvers generate pedal forces of more than 100 kilograms – every gram matters.
Race suits are tailored to the millimeter to avoid folds or pressure points. In the past, stretch inserts were added under the arms or in the back – today, precise pattern cutting takes over that function.

Visual Statements
Technology is one part, storytelling the other. In recent years, Ferrari and PUMA have repeatedly made headlines with special editions that dive deep into history. In 2022, the team surprised with a yellow race suit – a tribute to Ferrari’s historic corporate color found in the logo.In 2024, Miami brought a blue edition inspired by the mechanics’ outfits of the 1970s. Additional capsule collections followed, such as a “Carbon Story” or striking color blocks in yellow, black, and red. “These special editions are incredibly important for us because they build a bridge – between Ferrari’s history, our collections, and the emotions of the fans,” says Josnik.

Closer to the Fans
Whether yellow, blue, or classic red – each edition is accompanied by replica collections. T-shirts, polos, and jackets designed as close as possible to the official team gear remain bestsellers to this day. “For the fans, it’s like a football jersey – they wear what their idols wear on the track,” Josnik explains. In this way, PUMA not only creates proximity to professionals in the cockpit but also makes motorsport wearable in everyday life. For Josnik, this evolution is at the very heart of it all: “At the beginning, we started as the official supplier of Ferrari. Since then, a fantastic evolution with the Scuderia started which allows us today to tell stories together – in fashion, in sport, in technology. And that’s exactly what makes the partnership so unique.”
