Catch up on #KNOWYOURSTUFF

It’s time to check out the final three episodes and test how much you actually #KnowYourStuff.
October 18, 2024
In the 7-episode series launched earlier this month, PUMA Voice of a Generation Aishwarya Sharma takes us with her on her mission to find out more about common materials found in our shoes and clothing, starting with leather vs vegan leather.

Why?
Consumers are demanding more transparency from brands about how their products are made. Access to this information enables consumers to make more informed decisions about what they consider to be better material choices for people or for the planet.
“By openly discussing the complexities of the materials used in our products, we hope to foster a more informed and balanced conversation about sustainable clothing and footwear choices, which is essential for driving positive change.”
Anne-Laure Descours, Chief Sourcing Officer at PUMA
The first four episodes of Aishwarya’s fact-finding mission takes her deep into the PUMA archives and then into the heart of the leather tanning process in Thailand.  In the next three episodes, she continues to explore how leather is made, before moving on to discover the innovative plant-based material alternatives that PUMA is exploring.

EPISODE 5
Leather tanning requires a lot of water, which has a very important function to play during the different stages of leather production, but what happens to the wastewater at the end of the process? Does it go to waste? Join Aishwarya Sharma, at the water treatment plant of a leather tannery in Thailand, to find out.

Leather made from mushrooms, pineapples and olives? Is that REALLY possible?
In this episode, Aishwarya returns to PUMA HQ with Romain Girard, Vice President of Innovation, to find out more about the leather alternatives that PUMA has experimented with and what else is on the horizon. Join her in episode 6 as she uncovers interesting next-gen materials and discusses the challenges and possibilities for the future.

What a journey!
We’ve explored the pros and cons of leather, along with its environmental impacts, animal welfare, its evolution at PUMA and the future of leather alternatives. Now, PUMAs, it’s YOUR turn to test if you really #KNOWYOURSTUFF.
Your mission is to investigate materials in your wardrobe and share your findings using #KnowYourStuff #ForeverBetter #Puma.
