June 9, 2025Meet Tara McRae, recently appointed President and Managing Director of PUMA North America – and self-proclaimed sport lover who’s always game to try something new. Based in our Boston office, Tara’s journey from suburban sneakerhead to PUMA powerhouse is nothing short of impressive. In our latest “Get To Know,” she talks Mostros, Harley Quinn, and the values that keep her moving. Ready to get inspired? Let’s dive in!
Tara, what does greatness look like to you, personally?
No warm up here…straight into the tough questions! Ok, greatness to me is about ‘winning in all areas’, meaning it is not just about being what one would perceive as the best in their given field, but it is about being authentic, caring deeply, pushing things forward, and generally making a positive impact that truly inspires people.
Do you remember your first PUMA product? What was it, and when did you get it?
I had PUMA products as a kid. I grew up a little suburban sneakerhead, but the first one I recall buying was a pair of Mostros in college, which were some of my favorite shoes ever. Still are.
What core values guide you in life?
Kindness is key.
What’s one achievement that still lights you up inside?
All team wins big or small get me excited.
What do you love doing when you’re free to be completely yourself?
Playing any sport – especially a new one I have never played.
You’ve got one evening in a brand-new city – where does your curiosity take you?
First stop is shopping at cool local stores, then a fun local coffee shop and then I would love a sporting event.
What have you learned about yourself in a moment that truly challenged you?
I can always find the good or positive in any situation.
What’s something quirky about you that you can laugh at?
My impatience and inability to be anything but early for everything.
What part of yourself are you most grateful for?
Resilience, humor, and my kids!
Which movie or fictional character do you secretly identify with, and why?
Hmmmmm. I might have to say Harley Quinn. She is a favorite of mine. She is just herself always, funny and pretty badass.
What kind of mistakes are easiest for you to forgive?
All of them. People make mistakes, I just care that they can learn from them.
Which book is currently on your bedside table?
Careless People (Sarah Wynn-Williams)
If you had a personal motto, what would it be?
Never stand still.
