Si vous avez d\u00e9j\u00e0 planifi\u00e9 un trekking en haute altitude, vous comprendrez la quantit\u00e9 de planification, d'entra\u00eenement et de r\u00eaves qui sont n\u00e9cessaires pour en faire une r\u00e9alit\u00e9.<\/span>\n<\/div>\n   <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- row text single -->\n<div class=\"gradientnone\">\n<div class=\"row rowSingleColumnWide spacing\">\n    <div class=\"col articleText\">\n        <div class=\"textStyle_2b\" ><br\/>L'une des derni\u00e8res choses que vous souhaitez, c'est que votre voyage soit \u00e9court\u00e9 \u00e0 cause du mal de l'altitude, d'autant plus que dans la plupart des cas, ce mal peut \u00eatre trait\u00e9 gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des m\u00e9dicaments.<strong> une hydratation ad\u00e9quate et une bonne acclimatation<\/strong>. Le mal d'altitude peut aller du mal aigu des montagnes (MAM) b\u00e9nin \u00e0 l'\u0153d\u00e8me c\u00e9r\u00e9bral de haute altitude et \u00e0 l'\u0153d\u00e8me pulmonaire de haute altitude, qui mettent en jeu le pronostic vital. Toutefois, les sympt\u00f4mes de ces trois maladies se recoupent largement. Le MAM est le plus r\u00e9pandu et constitue donc un bon point de d\u00e9part pour comprendre le mal des montagnes. Le plus courant de ces sympt\u00f4mes - et donc le plus \u00e9tudi\u00e9 - est le MGS.<strong> Jetons un coup d'\u0153il !<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/>Les sympt\u00f4mes de l'AMS se d\u00e9veloppent comme suit <strong>\u00e0 partir de 3000 m d'altitude<\/strong> o\u00f9 l'oxyg\u00e8ne disponible chute \u00e0 environ 68%. En tant qu'amateur de trekking, j'ai visit\u00e9 les montagnes du N\u00e9pal, l'Himalaya, \u00e0 deux reprises. Lors de ma premi\u00e8re exp\u00e9dition, mal pr\u00e9par\u00e9 et mal inform\u00e9, je suis parti en randonn\u00e9e dans la r\u00e9gion des Annapurnas. Au sommet de Poon Hill, \u00e0 3140 m d'altitude, alors que le sol commen\u00e7ait \u00e0 se d\u00e9rober sous moi, que ma t\u00eate cognait et que ma vision se brouillait, j'ai d\u00fb redescendre rapidement au niveau de la mer et j'ai d\u00fb \u00e9courter mon voyage. L'AMS avait pris le dessus sur moi.<br\/>\n<br\/>Cette exp\u00e9rience m'a donn\u00e9 une certaine appr\u00e9hension quant au prochain voyage pr\u00e9vu dans la r\u00e9gion du Mont Everest pour entreprendre le Trek des Trois Cols. J'\u00e9tais bien conscient que si environ <strong>la moiti\u00e9 des randonneurs<\/strong> qui marchent jusqu'\u00e0 des altitudes sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 4000 m dans cette r\u00e9gion en l'espace de cinq jours <strong>d\u00e9velopper l'AMS<\/strong>, En effet, 84% de ceux qui volent directement \u00e0 3860m sont affect\u00e9s d'une mani\u00e8re ou d'une autre. J'\u00e9tais d\u00e9termin\u00e9 \u00e0 m'attaquer \u00e0 ce probl\u00e8me cette fois-ci.<br\/>\n<br\/>Nous allions marcher pendant plus de 10 jours entre 5 000 et 5 600 m d'altitude, un bond en avant par rapport \u00e0 l'altitude \u00e0 laquelle j'avais grimp\u00e9 lors de mon pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent trek, o\u00f9 la disponibilit\u00e9 de l'oxyg\u00e8ne chutait \u00e0 environ 50%. Il n'\u00e9tait pas question d'\u00e9courter ce voyage, car je voulais vivre chaque \u00e9tape de ce sentier ! Et je suis heureux d'annoncer que <strong> en prenant ces 5 mesures simples <\/strong> pour pr\u00e9venir l'AMS, c'est ce que j'ai fait.<br\/>\n<\/div>\n   <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- row text single -->\n<div class=\"gradientnone\">\n<div class=\"row rowSingleColumnWide spacing\">\n    <div class=\"col articleText\">\n        <div class=\"textStyle_2b\" ><br\/><strong>Hydratation<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/>Le risque de d\u00e9shydratation augmente avec l'altitude. Cela est d\u00fb au taux plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 de vapeur d'eau perdue par les poumons en altitude, car <strong>la respiration devient plus rapide<\/strong> \u00e0 mesure que la concentration d'oxyg\u00e8ne diminue. Si l'on ajoute \u00e0 cela la d\u00e9pense \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique \u00e9lev\u00e9e du trekking et les r\u00e9serves d'eau souvent limit\u00e9es, la d\u00e9shydratation devient de plus en plus probable.<br\/>\n<ul>\n<li>Veillez \u00e0 <strong>boire 3-4L par jour <\/strong>lors de randonn\u00e9es \u00e0 des altitudes sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 3000m.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u00c9vitez les diur\u00e9tiques comme la caf\u00e9ine et l'alcool.<\/strong> en altitude pour \u00e9viter d'exacerber les effets de l'altitude. Des \u00e9tudes sugg\u00e8rent qu'une boisson standard en altitude a l'effet de deux boissons par rapport au niveau de la mer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n   <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- row text single -->\n<div class=\"gradientnone\">\n<div class=\"row rowSingleColumnWide spacing\">\n    <div class=\"col articleText\">\n        <div class=\"textStyle_2b\" ><br\/><strong>Allez-y doucement<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/>Pour permettre \u00e0 l'organisme de s'acclimater, il est important de l'exposer \u00e0 des altitudes de plus en plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es. Bien que l'acclimatation diff\u00e8re d'une personne \u00e0 l'autre, la r\u00e8gle g\u00e9n\u00e9rale est la suivante <strong>pas plus de 300 \u00e0 500 m de d\u00e9nivel\u00e9 environ<\/strong> par jour s'av\u00e8re utile pour \u00e9viter le syndrome respiratoire aigu s\u00e9v\u00e8re. Chaque apr\u00e8s-midi, nous d\u00e9posions nos sacs et nous nous aventurions sur une cr\u00eate proche, \u00e0 200-400 m au-dessus de l'altitude \u00e0 laquelle nous allions dormir.<br\/>\n<\/div>\n   <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- row text single -->\n<div class=\"gradientnone\">\n<div class=\"row rowSingleColumnWide spacing\">\n    <div class=\"col articleText\">\n        <div class=\"textStyle_2b\" ><br\/><strong>Alimentez votre corps en glucides<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/><strong>Les hydrates de carbone sont le carburant privil\u00e9gi\u00e9 en altitude<\/strong> car ils fournissent 15% plus d'\u00e9nergie pour la m\u00eame quantit\u00e9 d'oxyg\u00e8ne que les graisses, ce qui permet d'utiliser plus efficacement la quantit\u00e9 limit\u00e9e d'oxyg\u00e8ne tout en maintenant les niveaux d'\u00e9nergie.<br\/>\n<\/div>\n   <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- row text single -->\n<div class=\"gradientnone\">\n<div class=\"row rowSingleColumnWide spacing\">\n    <div class=\"col articleText\">\n        <div class=\"textStyle_2b\" ><br\/><strong>M\u00e9dicaments<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/>Dernier point, mais non des moindres, <strong>m\u00e9dicaments<\/strong> comme l'ac\u00e9tazolamide, commun\u00e9ment appel\u00e9 Diamox, <strong>peuvent contribuer \u00e0 r\u00e9duire le risque de d\u00e9velopper une AMS<\/strong> par l'inhibition d'une enzyme qui s'oppose \u00e0 l'alcalose respiratoire qui se produit lors de l'ascension en altitude.<br\/>\n<br\/>Les effets secondaires les plus courants sont les vertiges, les \u00e9tourdissements et l'augmentation de la miction au cours des premiers jours, car le corps s'adapte au m\u00e9dicament. Une sensation de picotement dans les doigts et les mains est \u00e9galement not\u00e9e comme un effet secondaire courant et peut \u00eatre inconfortable. Altitude sickness can range from mild Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) to life-threatening high altitude cerebral oedema, and high altitude pulmonary oedema. However, the symptoms for all three significantly overlap. AMS is the most prevalent therefore it\u2019s a great place to start in understanding altitude sickness. The most common of these \u2013 and therefore well researched \u2013 is AMS.\\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt; Let\u2019s have a look!\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;Symptoms of AMS are seen to develop \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;from 3000m above sea level\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; where available oxygen drops down to approximately 68%. As a trekking enthusiast, I have visited the mountains of Nepal, the Himalayas, twice. On my first expedition, ill prepared and uninformed, I set off hiking in the Annapurna region. At the summit of Poon Hill, at 3140m, as the ground began to spin beneath me, my head was thumping and my vision blurred, I made for a fast decent back to sea level and had to cut the trip short. AMS had got the better of me.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;This experience had me slightly apprehensive about the next trip planned into Mount Everest Region to tackle the Three Passes Trek. I was well aware that while approximately \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;half of the trekkers\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; who walk to altitudes above 4000m in this region within five days \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;develop AMS\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;, 84% of those who fly directly to 3860m are affected in some way. I was determined to get a handle on it this time.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;We would be trekking for over 10 days between 5000-5600m above sea level, a definite leap above the height I\u2019d climbed to on my previous trek where oxygen availability would drop to approximately 50%. There was no way this trip was being cut short as I wanted to experience every single step of that trail! Add in the high energy expenditure of trekking as well as the often-limited water supplies, and dehydration becomes ever more likely.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u003cul\\u003e\\n\\u003cli\\u003eMake sure you \\u003cstrong\\u003edrink 3-4L per day \\u003c\/strong\\u003ewhen trekking at altitudes above 3000m.\\u003c\/li\\u003e\\n\\u003cli\\u003e\\u003cstrong\\u003eSteer clear of diuretics like caffeine and alcohol\\u003c\/strong\\u003e at altitude to avoid exacerbating the effect of altitude. A tingling sensation in fingers and hands is also noted as a common side effect and can be uncomfortable. Altitude sickness can range from mild Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) to life-threatening high altitude cerebral oedema, and high altitude pulmonary oedema. However, the symptoms for all three significantly overlap. AMS is the most prevalent therefore it\u2019s a great place to start in understanding altitude sickness. The most common of these \u2013 and therefore well researched \u2013 is AMS.\\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt; Let\u2019s have a look!\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;Symptoms of AMS are seen to develop \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;from 3000m above sea level\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; where available oxygen drops down to approximately 68%. As a trekking enthusiast, I have visited the mountains of Nepal, the Himalayas, twice. On my first expedition, ill prepared and uninformed, I set off hiking in the Annapurna region. At the summit of Poon Hill, at 3140m, as the ground began to spin beneath me, my head was thumping and my vision blurred, I made for a fast decent back to sea level and had to cut the trip short. AMS had got the better of me.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;This experience had me slightly apprehensive about the next trip planned into Mount Everest Region to tackle the Three Passes Trek. I was well aware that while approximately \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;half of the trekkers\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; who walk to altitudes above 4000m in this region within five days \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;develop AMS\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;, 84% of those who fly directly to 3860m are affected in some way. I was determined to get a handle on it this time.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;We would be trekking for over 10 days between 5000-5600m above sea level, a definite leap above the height I\u2019d climbed to on my previous trek where oxygen availability would drop to approximately 50%. This is due to the higher rate of water vapour lost from the lungs at altitude because \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;breathing becomes more rapid\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; as oxygen concentration lowers. Add in the high energy expenditure of trekking as well as the often-limited water supplies, and dehydration becomes ever more likely.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u003cul\\u003e\\n\\u003cli\\u003eMake sure you \\u003cstrong\\u003edrink 3-4L per day \\u003c\/strong\\u003ewhen trekking at altitudes above 3000m.\\u003c\/li\\u003e\\n\\u003cli\\u003e\\u003cstrong\\u003eSteer clear of diuretics like caffeine and alcohol\\u003c\/strong\\u003e at altitude to avoid exacerbating the effect of altitude. While acclimatisation is different for everyone, a general rule of \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;no more than approximately 300-500m in elevation gain\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; per day is found to be helpful in avoiding AMS.
