Color-blocking, glitter and sophisticated patterns: British accessories designer Sophia Webster is well known for her complex, feminine and uninhibited designs.
Combined with PUMA’s innovative sports designs that makes for a stand-out Spring/ Summer ’19 collection for women and for the first time also for kids!
Dans un entretien with Arabian Harpers Bazaar Online Magazine, Sophia Webster talked about her sources of inspiration for designing this season’s collection together with PUMA and gave tips on how to style the pieces.
What was the inspiration behind this collection?
My third collection with PUMA was dance-inspired with a lot of references to the ‘80s. I wanted it to feel like it was straight from that time period, but styled for the modern day. I used lots of colour-blocking techniques, updated logos and bold prints to bring a new energy to this collection. I love experimenting with color, so I used a mix of stand-out neons and pastel hues.
How do the PUMA woman and Sophia Webster woman go hand-in-hand?
PUMA and I have the same spirit in that we want to create a product that not only looks great, but makes women feel empowered. I wanted this collection to reflect the way I design by offering variety, from individual statement pieces that you cannot wear to dance and exercise or casual everyday wear.
What was the best part in designing the collection?
I loved introducing kids’ shoes to this collection, especially the basket sneaker in iridescent glitter that matches the women’s version. I have three daughters, so entering the children’s apparel market for the first time was a really exciting opportunity. I love dressing my girls in the pieces. I have enjoyed the design process so much and feel super proud of the collection.

What are your stylings tips on how to wear them?
I love the Thunder platform sneakers – they are my favourites to date. The elasticated frilly trim and chunky color-blocked sole pair perfectly with the mesh white shorts and tee. I wear the Suedes and Cali sneakers day to day around the office with denim dungarees or a cute co-ord set.
