Equilibrio en la forma de comer, entrenar y moverse. Aunque el ejercicio de alta intensidad tiene muchos beneficios para la salud, debemos asegurarnos de que no estamos corriendo a 100% todo el tiempo. El tiempo de inactividad tras una sesi\u00f3n de alta intensidad permite al cuerpo recuperarse y realizar adaptaciones positivas del entrenamiento. Sin embargo, ahora me doy cuenta de que act\u00faa m\u00e1s como <strong>medicina a trav\u00e9s del movimiento<\/strong>. Sol\u00eda pasarme una clase de 60 minutos intentando no dormirme porque me hab\u00eda forzado hasta la extenuaci\u00f3n. Ahora no puedo creer que dejara que mi vida se desequilibrara tanto. Llegu\u00e9 al agotamiento total con las cl\u00e1sicas banderas rojas de intolerancias alimentarias, fatiga y una clara sensaci\u00f3n de agotamiento. <strong>falta de motivaci\u00f3n<\/strong>, ...cosas que en aquel momento me resultaban muy extra\u00f1as. Culturalmente, tendemos a recompensar el ritmo de vida acelerado y estresante, quemando la vela por los dos extremos y, aunque no es saludable, es la norma aceptada por muchos de nosotros. Para m\u00ed, esto ya no era una opci\u00f3n. <strong>Necesitaba restablecer el equilibrio<\/strong> en mi vida para poder funcionar y rendir de un modo sostenible (y agradable).<br\/>\n<br\/>La palabra \u201cYin\u201d procede del principio tradicional chino de <strong>Yin y Yang<\/strong>, El Yin describe la naturaleza reposada de la noche y el Yang el tiempo de \u201chacer\u201d, el d\u00eda. La energ\u00eda Yin representa el lado fr\u00edo de la vida: la quietud, la tierra y la suavidad. La energ\u00eda Yang tiene que ver con la acci\u00f3n: el calor, la luz y la actividad. Ambas son igual de importantes en la vida. Sin embargo, <strong>El yin nunca ha sido tan necesario<\/strong>. Los entornos de trabajo estresantes, las largas jornadas laborales, los entrenamientos de alta intensidad y los programas de entrenamiento intensivos generan calor. He tenido muchos clientes que tienen trabajos estresantes, hacen ejercicio a la hora de comer y luego se meten en una clase de yoga caliente al final del d\u00eda para \u2018relajarse\u2019. <strong>Esto no es equilibrio<\/strong>, es m\u00e1s de lo mismo. I used to spend a 60 minute class trying hard not to fall asleep because I had pushed myself to exhaustion. Looking back now I can\u2019t believe that I let my life get that out of balance. I hit complete burnout with the classic red flags of food intolerances, fatigue and a distinct \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;lack of motivation\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;, all things that were very foreign to me at the time. Culturally, we tend to reward living a high-paced, stress fuelled life burning the candle at both ends and while it\u2019s not healthy, it is the accepted norm for so many of us. For me, this was no longer an option. \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;I needed to restore balance\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; in my life in order to function and perform in a way that was sustainable (and enjoyable).\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;The word \u201cYin\u201d comes from the traditional Chinese principle of \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;Yin and Yang\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;, where Yin describes the restful nature of night time and Yang depicts the time of \u201cdoing\u201d, the daytime. Yin energy represents the cooling side of life: the still, earthy and soft. Yang energy is all about action: the warmth, light and activity. Both are equally important in life. However, \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;Yin has never been so necessary\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;. Stressful work environments, long working hours, high-intensity workouts and heavy training programs all build heat. I have had so many clients who work stressful jobs, squeeze a workout into their lunch break and then smash through a hot yoga class at the end of the day to \u2018wind-down\u2019. \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;This isn\u2019t balance\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;, it\u2019s just more of the same. Stressful hot energy, fuelled with more heat. I realise that now of course. These deep, long holds in Yin help to improve joint mobility and release fascia.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;Fascia is a web-like structure that encases every cell in our body. It is a highly organised connective tissue that holds the internal organs together. Tight or dehydrated fascia can often lead to adhesions between the fascia and muscle or bone resulting in restricted range of movement. Yin helps to release fascia, which allows more fluid movement without restriction.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;Yin also increases circulation, which can help speed up muscle recovery, reduce muscle soreness, improve overall flexibility and in turn improve performance.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;These physical benefits were enough to get me started, but once I realised the positive effect that a regular Yin practice had on my mental health I was hooked. The \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;meditative nature\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; of the practice helps to reduce stress hormones, adrenaline and cortisol while boosting happiness, concentration, self-awareness and immune health. The poses are often deep and uncomfortable and maintaining stillness through this discomfort is thought to build mental toughness.
