Los trampolines modernos fueron construidos por primera vez por George Nissen y Larry Griswold en la Universidad de Iowa en 1936. En un principio iban a servir para entrenar a astronautas y como herramienta de entrenamiento para otros deportes, como el submarinismo o la acrobacia. Pero la gente pronto descubri\u00f3 la magia de saltar en las camas el\u00e1sticas y as\u00ed fue como se popularizaron. Hab\u00eda nacido un deporte. En realidad, Nissen y Griswold ten\u00edan en mente una serie de nuevos juegos cuando construyeron la cama el\u00e1stica moderna. Uno de ellos era el \u201cSpaceball\u201d.
