Das war der Beginn meines allerersten Blogs - und einer viralen Kampagne - die Mode und Aktivismus verband und sich darauf konzentrierte, wie Frauen in der heutigen Welt leiden. Wir arbeiteten weiterhin mit Marken auf der ganzen Welt, in Indien, mit Partnern im Bereich der sozialen Verantwortung von Unternehmen und mit Nichtregierungsorganisationen zusammen. Im Jahr 2020 wurde ich UN-Botschafterin f\u00fcr Ziel zehn, gefolgt von Ziel f\u00fcnf und allem, was mit Mode, Nachhaltigkeit und Aktivismus zu tun hat. Wir kombinierten und \u00fcberbr\u00fcckten die Kluft zwischen diesen drei Dingen und erreichten immer mehr Menschen.<br\/>\n<br\/>Meine Reise war eine gro\u00dfe Herausforderung: Wenn man aus einem Land wie Indien kommt, hat man ein geringeres Verst\u00e4ndnis daf\u00fcr, was Mode in Bezug auf Aktivismus leisten kann. Entweder es ist Aktivismus oder es ist Mode. Wenn man beides kombiniert, bedeutet das, dass man etwas Frivoles macht: Es gibt eine allgemeine stereotype Denkweise, dass Mode eine frivole Branche ist. <strong>Wie kann also ein Mode-Influencer \u00fcber S\u00e4ureangriffe, sexuelle \u00dcbergriffe, soziale Ungerechtigkeiten, faires Einkommen oder Arbeitsrechte sprechen?<\/strong> Diese Frage war viele Jahre lang schwierig zu beantworten. \u00dcberall, wo ich hinkam, wurde mir gesagt, dass man entweder ein Mensch in der Modebranche werden kann oder eine soziale NRO oder ein Sozialarbeiter. <strong>Die Menschen waren nicht bereit zu akzeptieren, dass man beides tun kann.<\/strong> Ich bin froh, dass wir an einem Punkt angelangt sind, an dem der Modeaktivismus als eine parallele Branche zur Modeindustrie betrachtet wird.<br\/>\n<br\/><strong>Was hat Sie dazu bewogen, sich f\u00fcr Nachhaltigkeit zu engagieren?<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/>Aishwarya: Der Einsturz des Rana Plaza in Bangladesch im Jahr 2013 war ein Weckruf f\u00fcr die Welt und f\u00fcr mich. Ich erinnere mich, dass ich zu dieser Zeit in der High School war und jeder Nachrichtensender dar\u00fcber berichtete. Der Einsturz forderte mehr als 1100 Menschenleben. Wir fragten uns immer wieder, <strong>Was sind diese Fabriken? Wie kann eine Fabrik einfach zusammenbrechen?<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/>Damals wussten wir noch nichts \u00fcber Arbeitsrechte oder Gesundheits- und Arbeitsbedingungen, vor allem in der Modeindustrie, und so begann ich mit meinen Recherchen. Ich las viel und begann zu verstehen, wof\u00fcr Bangladesch und die Aktivisten in Bangladesch eintraten, und anscheinend setzten sie sich schon seit Jahren f\u00fcr Ver\u00e4nderungen ein, ohne dass jemals in den Nachrichten dar\u00fcber berichtet worden w\u00e4re. Das Einzige, was in den Nachrichten zu lesen war, war der Einsturz der Fabrik. Es bedurfte des Verlustes so vieler Menschen, damit dieses Thema Schlagzeilen machte.<br\/>\n<br\/>Meine Beziehung zur Nachhaltigkeit begann lange bevor ich \u00fcberhaupt wusste, was Nachhaltigkeit ist. Sie hat sich zu einem Verst\u00e4ndnis entwickelt, das <strong>wir k\u00f6nnen nicht leben, ohne unsere Auswirkungen auf den Planeten zu verringern.<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/><strong>Welches Nachhaltigkeitsthema ist f\u00fcr Sie von zentraler Bedeutung?<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/>Aishwarya: Als Teenager war ich besessen von Modemagazinen. Ich wollte die neuesten Trends, aber das \u00e4nderte sich schnell, denn ich wollte wissen, was gut f\u00fcr mich ist, und nicht die Glamourisierung von Fast Fashion. Jetzt, <strong>Wir sind uns dar\u00fcber im Klaren, dass wir unseren eigenen Stil beibehalten wollen, der uns auszeichnet und auch unsere Auswirkungen auf den Planeten reduziert.<\/strong> Folgen Sie nicht blindlings den Trends. Fast 50% meines Publikums oder meiner Follower sind Frauen im Alter von 18-26 Jahren. Ich m\u00f6chte, dass jemand, der 18 Jahre alt ist und mir folgt, wei\u00df, dass sie ihrem eigenen Stil treu bleiben und sich nicht von Trends leiten lassen sollte. Ich m\u00f6chte das ganze Gespr\u00e4ch ver\u00e4ndern, denn ich m\u00f6chte nicht, dass noch mehr M\u00e4dchen in das verwickelt werden, was ich mit 17 Jahren durchgemacht habe. <strong>Ich m\u00f6chte, dass sie sie selbst sind.<\/strong><br\/>\n<\/div>\n   <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- row text single -->\n<div class=\"gradientnone\">\n<div class=\"row rowSingleColumnWide spacing\">\n    <div class=\"col articleText\">\n        <div class=\"textStyle_2b\" ><br\/><strong>Was w\u00fcrden Sie als Ihren bisher gr\u00f6\u00dften Erfolg bezeichnen?<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/>Aishwarya: Ich glaube, mein bisher gr\u00f6\u00dfter Erfolg ist, dass es mir gelungen ist, eine betr\u00e4chtliche Anzahl von Followern zu gewinnen, obwohl ich etwas Unkonventionelles gemacht habe. W\u00e4hrend die meisten Gleichaltrigen in meinem Alter das Modebloggen als Vollzeitbesch\u00e4ftigung aus\u00fcbten, suchte ich nach M\u00f6glichkeiten, wie das Modebloggen anders sein k\u00f6nnte. Wenn man etwas Unkonventionelles machen will, hat man immer Angst zu scheitern. Also bin ich das Risiko eingegangen und habe getan, was ich tun wollte, weil ich den Menschen mit meiner Plattform helfen wollte. In Indien gibt es nicht viele M\u00f6glichkeiten f\u00fcr Modeaktivisten, und die Leute verstehen nicht einmal, was das ist. Dieses Verst\u00e4ndnis zu schaffen, hat in den letzten vier Jahren das Spiel ver\u00e4ndert, und heute sind die Menschen und Marken in Indien bewusster.<br\/>\n<br\/>Meine Arbeit konzentriert sich auf Menschenrechte, Frauen und Nachhaltigkeit, und so ist die Ernennung zur UN-Botschafterin f\u00fcr globale Ziele ein weiterer gro\u00dfer Erfolg f\u00fcr mich. Im Jahr 2021 wurde ich gebeten, den Vorsitz des indischen Koordinators f\u00fcr die globale Friedensvereinbarung zu \u00fcbernehmen. Da ich aus dem globalen S\u00fcden komme, ist die Mitarbeit in diesen Gremien wirklich wichtig, denn der globale S\u00fcden ist am st\u00e4rksten vom Klimawandel betroffen. <strong>Wir k\u00f6nnen es direkt vor uns sehen, es ist keine ferne Unterhaltung, es ist unsere t\u00e4gliche Realit\u00e4t.<\/strong> <strong>Es ist wichtig, eine F\u00fchrungsrolle zu \u00fcbernehmen und in unserem Kampf gegen den Klimawandel geschlossen aufzutreten, glaubw\u00fcrdige L\u00f6sungen auf den Tisch zu legen und mehr zu fordern.<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/>Bei all dem macht es mich gl\u00fccklich, dass die Menschen den Wert einer Modeaktivistin verstehen, die sogar in diesen Foren vertreten ist, vor allem, wenn ich in der Vergangenheit gefragt wurde, was ich mit meiner Plattform bezwecke. Ich habe das Gef\u00fchl, dass ich, zusammen mit anderen, den Raum f\u00fcr mehr Menschen weltweit ge\u00f6ffnet habe.<br\/>\n<br\/><strong>Nach welchen Prinzipien leben Sie in Bezug auf Nachhaltigkeit?<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/>Aishwarya: Ich lasse mich von meiner inneren Stimme, von meinem eigenen Bewusstsein leiten und lebe so, wie es f\u00fcr mich gesund ist, und nicht so, wie es mir jemand anderes vorschreibt. Nachhaltigkeit ist f\u00fcr die Menschen im Globalen S\u00fcden etwas v\u00f6llig anderes als f\u00fcr den Rest der Welt, weil wir st\u00e4ndig in Schuldgef\u00fchlen leben. Wir sehen so viel um uns herum, dass ich zwar dankbar bin f\u00fcr das, was ich habe, aber mich frage, wie ich mit den Ressourcen, die ich habe, mehr tun kann, um anderen zu helfen. Wir haben st\u00e4ndig Schuldgef\u00fchle, wenn wir uns zu sehr Dingen hingeben, die anderen Menschen definitiv schaden, vor allem, wenn diese anderen Menschen direkt vor uns stehen. F\u00fcr uns sind die betroffenen Menschen keine imagin\u00e4re Zahl - es sind die Menschen, die direkt neben uns sind.<br\/>\n<br\/><strong>Wie wollen Sie Ihre Plattform mit PUMA nutzen, um die Modewelt nachhaltiger zu machen?<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/>Aishwarya: Wenn man sich PUMA anschaut, sind sie bereit, transparenter zu sein, sie sind bereit, diese schwierigen Gespr\u00e4che zu f\u00fchren, indem sie sagen: \u201cWir wissen, dass wir nicht die beste Marke sind, wenn es um die besten nachhaltigen Initiativen geht, aber wir versuchen, es besser zu machen.\u201d Sie engagieren sich in vielen Nachhaltigkeitsinitiativen, und es passiert so viel auf globaler Ebene. Meine Zusammenarbeit mit ihnen ist etwas Besonderes, weil das, wof\u00fcr ich mich seit Jahren einsetze, durch unsere Zusammenarbeit weiter verbreitet werden kann und dazu beitr\u00e4gt, die Mode nachhaltiger zu machen.<br\/>\n<br\/>Es ist komplexer, als wir es zu Papier bringen k\u00f6nnen, aber wenn ein Unternehmen das kann, k\u00f6nnen es andere vielleicht auch. Das Ziel ist es, unseren Fu\u00dfabdruck auf diesem Planeten zu verringern. Die Art und Weise, wie Sie dies als Marke, als einzelnes Unternehmen, als Organisation, wer auch immer Sie sind, in welchem Teil der Welt auch immer, tun, wird eine Botschaft an alle sein, dass wir zusammenarbeiten k\u00f6nnen. <strong>Die Welt w\u00e4re ein besserer Ort, wenn wir mehr zusammenarbeiten und weniger konkurrieren w\u00fcrden.<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/><strong>Was erhoffen Sie sich als PUMAs neueste Stimme einer RE:GENERATION zu erreichen?<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/>Aishwarya: Auf jeden Fall mehr sozialen Einfluss, ein breiteres digitales Bewusstsein, damit wir unsere Nachhaltigkeitsbotschaften weltweit verbreiten k\u00f6nnen. PUMA beliefert Millionen, wenn nicht Milliarden von Menschen rund um den Globus, und das Bewusstsein f\u00fcr Nachhaltigkeit ist so wichtig. Als junge Klimaaktivistin, die sich leidenschaftlich f\u00fcr Ver\u00e4nderungen einsetzt, wird dies eine globale Plattform f\u00fcr mich sein, um andere Menschen zu erreichen und zu zeigen, dass Modeaktivismus der Weg der Zukunft ist; Nachhaltigkeit ist der Weg der Zukunft. Dass wir uns zusammentun k\u00f6nnen, um die Dinge besser zu machen, weil die Macht der Menschen unglaublich ist. Eine Person multipliziert mit Millionen von Menschen, die das Gleiche denken und tun, um L\u00f6sungen zu finden und nachhaltiger zu handeln, hat eine enorme Wirkung. Als PUMAs neueste Stimme der RE:GENERATION, insbesondere aus Indien und dem globalen S\u00fcden, denke ich, dass dies eine gro\u00dfe Chance f\u00fcr mich sein wird, in den Prozess eingebunden zu sein und die Dinge aus einer anderen Perspektive zu sehen.<strong> Ich hoffe, dass ich durch Mode und Nachhaltigkeit Frieden schaffen kann.<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/><strong>Welche Tipps haben Sie f\u00fcr Menschen, die sich nachhaltiger kleiden wollen?<\/strong><br\/>\n<br\/>Aishwarya: Nachhaltigkeit beginnt zu Hause. Sie k\u00f6nnen Ihren Teil dazu beitragen. Denn selbst wenn man sich entscheidet, dasselbe Kleid, dasselbe Hemd oder denselben Sari noch zehn weitere Male zu tragen, wird der Lebenszyklus verl\u00e4ngert - er endet nicht. Wiederholtes Tragen ist meiner Meinung nach die ultimative Nachhaltigkeit in Sachen Mode.  Hinzu kommen Upcycling und Recycling. <strong>Man kann etwas immer wieder neu tragen und es cool aussehen lassen. Man muss sich nicht dem Gedanken hingeben, dass, wenn ich nicht mehr habe, die Leute denken werden, dass ich nicht mehr habe. Das ist genau das, was du willst, dass die Leute denken, dass du nicht mehr hast. Nicht mehr von mehr ist der Grundsatz. Wenn du ein Kleid noch f\u00fcnfmal tr\u00e4gst, solltest du stolz darauf sein, und das macht dich cool. Au\u00dferdem bin ich Indien-Koordinatorin f\u00fcr Global Peace HQ, das seinen Sitz in Afrika hat, und ich bin auch Botschafterin des guten Willens f\u00fcr Youth of India. Ich verbinde Mode und Aktivismus, um in den sozialen Medien Bewusstsein zu schaffen und die sozialen Medien als digitale Plattform zu nutzen, um auf gesellschaftliche Probleme einzuwirken und die gesellschaftlichen Ungerechtigkeiten in meinem Land und \u00fcberall sonst aufzuzeigen, indem ich so viele Menschen wie m\u00f6glich erreiche. That was the beginning of my first ever blog \\u0026ndash; and viral campaign \\u0026ndash; which combined fashion and activism and focused on how women are suffering in the world today. We kept working with brands all around the world, in India, and Corporate Social Responsibility partners and non-governmental organisations. In 2020, I joined as a UN global goal ambassador for goal ten, followed by goal five and anything focused on fashion, sustainability and activism. We kept combining and bridging the gap between these three things and kept reaching more people.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;My journey has been super challenging: when you come from a country like India, there is a lesser understanding of what fashion can do in terms of activism. Either it is activism or it is fashion, combining the two means you are doing something frivolous: there\\u0026rsquo;s a general stereotypical mindset that fashion is a frivolous industry. \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;So how can a fashion influencer talk about acid attacks, sexual assault, social injustices, fair income or labour rights?\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; That was a challenging question to answer for many years. Wherever I went, people would say you can either become a person in fashion or you become a social NGO or a social worker. \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;People were not ready to accept that you could do both.\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; I\\u0026rsquo;m happy that we have come to a point where fashion activism is being considered as a parallel industry to the fashion industry.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;What prompted you to become involved in sustainability?\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;Aishwarya: The Rana Plaza collapse in Bangladesh in 2013 was a wake up call for the world and for me. I remember I was studying in high school at that\\u0026nbsp; time and every news channel covered it. It claimed more than 1100 lives. We kept asking, \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;what are these factories? How can a factory just collapse?\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;At that time, we were not aware of labour rights or health and working conditions, especially in the fashion industry, and so a lot of research really started then. I read a lot and I started to understand what Bangladesh and the activists in Bangladesh were advocating for, and apparently they were advocating for change for years and it wasn\\u0026rsquo;t ever covered in the news. The only thing in the news was that the factory collapsed. Almost 50% of my audience or followers are women from ages of 18-26, I want someone who is 18 and following me to know that she needs to stick to her own style and not give into trends. While most of my peers my age were indulging in fashion blogging as a full-time career, I looked for ways that fashion blogging could be different. When you want to do something which is unconventional, there\\u0026rsquo;s always a fear of failing. So, I took the risk and I did what I wanted to do because I wanted to help people through my platform. In India, there are not a lot of opportunities for fashion activists and people don\\u0026rsquo;t even understand what this is. Just to create that understanding sort of changed the ball game in the past four years, and now in India today, people and brands are being more conscious.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;What I do focuses on human rights, on women and sustainability, so becoming a UN global goal ambassador is another huge achievement for me. In 2021, I was asked to chair the India Coordinator for Global Peace Accord. Coming from the Global South, being on these boards is really important because the Global South is the most susceptible to climate change. \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;We can see it happening right in front of us, it is a not distant conversation, it\\u0026rsquo;s our everyday reality.\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;It is important to take lead and be unified in our fight against climate change and to put credible solutions on the table and demand more.\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;With all of this, it makes me happy that people understand the value of a fashion activist to even be on these boards, especially when I was questioned on what I was trying to do with my platform in the past. We see so much around us that even though I\\u0026rsquo;m grateful for what I have got, I wonder how can I do more with the resources I have to help others. There is constant guilt if you\\u0026rsquo;re indulging too much into things that are definitely harmful for other people, especially if those other people are right in front of us. For us, the people affected is not an imaginary number \\u0026ndash; it is the people who are right next to us.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;How do you plan to use your platform with PUMA to help make the fashion world more sustainable?\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;Aishwarya: If you look at PUMA, they\\u0026rsquo;re ready to be more transparent, they are ready to have those tough conversations by saying \\u0026ldquo;we know we are not the best brand when it comes to having the best sustainable initiatives, but we are trying to do better.\\u0026rdquo; They are engaged in a lot of sustainability initiatives and so much is happening at a global level. That was the beginning of my first ever blog \\u0026ndash; and viral campaign \\u0026ndash; which combined fashion and activism and focused on how women are suffering in the world today. We kept working with brands all around the world, in India, and Corporate Social Responsibility partners and non-governmental organisations. In 2020, I joined as a UN global goal ambassador for goal ten, followed by goal five and anything focused on fashion, sustainability and activism. We kept combining and bridging the gap between these three things and kept reaching more people.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;My journey has been super challenging: when you come from a country like India, there is a lesser understanding of what fashion can do in terms of activism. Either it is activism or it is fashion, combining the two means you are doing something frivolous: there\\u0026rsquo;s a general stereotypical mindset that fashion is a frivolous industry. \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;So how can a fashion influencer talk about acid attacks, sexual assault, social injustices, fair income or labour rights?\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; That was a challenging question to answer for many years. Wherever I went, people would say you can either become a person in fashion or you become a social NGO or a social worker. \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;People were not ready to accept that you could do both.\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; I\\u0026rsquo;m happy that we have come to a point where fashion activism is being considered as a parallel industry to the fashion industry.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;What prompted you to become involved in sustainability?\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;Aishwarya: The Rana Plaza collapse in Bangladesh in 2013 was a wake up call for the world and for me. I remember I was studying in high school at that\\u0026nbsp; time and every news channel covered it. It claimed more than 1100 lives. We kept asking, \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;what are these factories? How can a factory just collapse?\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;At that time, we were not aware of labour rights or health and working conditions, especially in the fashion industry, and so a lot of research really started then. I read a lot and I started to understand what Bangladesh and the activists in Bangladesh were advocating for, and apparently they were advocating for change for years and it wasn\\u0026rsquo;t ever covered in the news. The only thing in the news was that the factory collapsed. It took the loss of so many people for this issue to make headlines.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;My relationship with sustainability started way before I even realised what sustainability even is. It has developed into an understanding that \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;we cannot live without reducing our impact on the planet.\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;Which sustainability topic is crucially important for you?\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;Aishwarya: As a teenager, I had an obsession with fashion magazines. I wanted the newest trends, but that quickly changed to what\\u0026rsquo;s good for me rather than the glamorisation of fast fashion. Now, \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;there\\u0026rsquo;s an understanding that we want to stick to our own style, which defines us and also reduces our overall impact on the planet.\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; Don\\u0026rsquo;t blindly follow trends. Almost 50% of my audience or followers are women from ages of 18-26, I want someone who is 18 and following me to know that she needs to stick to her own style and not give into trends. I want to change the whole conversation because I don\\u0026rsquo;t want more girls to be caught up in what I was caught up with when I was 17. \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;I want them to be themselves.\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\",\"width\":\"Wide\",\"aspect\":\"0\",\"style\":\"2b\",\"firstletter\":\"\",\"gradient\":\"none\",\"spacing\":true,\"previewImage\":\"\",\"lock\":\"\",\"metadata\":\"\",\"className\":\"\",\"TrpContentRestriction\":{\"restriction_type\":\"exclude\",\"selected_languages\":[],\"panel_open\":true}} \/--><!-- wp:puma\/row-text-single {\"content\":\"\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;What would you consider your biggest achievement yet?\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;Aishwarya: I think my biggest achievement yet, in the simplest way, is how I was able to gain a considerable amount of followers even while I was doing something unconventional. While most of my peers my age were indulging in fashion blogging as a full-time career, I looked for ways that fashion blogging could be different. When you want to do something which is unconventional, there\\u0026rsquo;s always a fear of failing. So, I took the risk and I did what I wanted to do because I wanted to help people through my platform. In India, there are not a lot of opportunities for fashion activists and people don\\u0026rsquo;t even understand what this is. Just to create that understanding sort of changed the ball game in the past four years, and now in India today, people and brands are being more conscious.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;What I do focuses on human rights, on women and sustainability, so becoming a UN global goal ambassador is another huge achievement for me. In 2021, I was asked to chair the India Coordinator for Global Peace Accord. Coming from the Global South, being on these boards is really important because the Global South is the most susceptible to climate change. \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;We can see it happening right in front of us, it is a not distant conversation, it\\u0026rsquo;s our everyday reality.\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt; \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;It is important to take lead and be unified in our fight against climate change and to put credible solutions on the table and demand more.\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;With all of this, it makes me happy that people understand the value of a fashion activist to even be on these boards, especially when I was questioned on what I was trying to do with my platform in the past. I feel like I, alongside others, opened the space for more people globally to follow.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;What principles do you live by regarding sustainability?\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;Aishwarya: To be guided by my inner voice, by my own consciousness, and to live in a way that is healthy for me, not how somebody else dictates it. Sustainability for people in the Global South is completely different from the rest of the world because we live in constant guilt. We see so much around us that even though I\\u0026rsquo;m grateful for what I have got, I wonder how can I do more with the resources I have to help others. There is constant guilt if you\\u0026rsquo;re indulging too much into things that are definitely harmful for other people, especially if those other people are right in front of us. For us, the people affected is not an imaginary number \\u0026ndash; it is the people who are right next to us.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;How do you plan to use your platform with PUMA to help make the fashion world more sustainable?\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;Aishwarya: If you look at PUMA, they\\u0026rsquo;re ready to be more transparent, they are ready to have those tough conversations by saying \\u0026ldquo;we know we are not the best brand when it comes to having the best sustainable initiatives, but we are trying to do better.\\u0026rdquo; They are engaged in a lot of sustainability initiatives and so much is happening at a global level. My association with them is special because what I have been advocating for years can be wider spread through our collaboration, and help make fashion more sustainable.\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;It\\u0026rsquo;s more complex than we can put onto paper but if one company can do it, maybe others can too. The goal is to reduce our footprint on this planet. How you do this as a brand, an individual company, organisation, whoever you are, in whatever part of the world, is going to be a message to everyone that we can work together. \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;The world would be such a better place if we were to collaborate more and compete less.\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;What do you hope to achieve as PUMA\\u0026acute;s newest Voice of a RE:GENERATION?\\u0026lt;\/strong\\u0026gt;\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;\\n\\u0026lt;br\/\\u0026gt;Aishwarya: Definitely more social impact, a wider digital awareness so we can spread our messages of sustainability globally. PUMA is catering to millions, if not billions of people around the globe, and awareness of sustainability is so important. As a young climate activist, a person who is so passionate about creating change, this is going to be a global platform for me to reach other people and show that fashion activism is the way of the future; sustainability is the way of the future. That we can come together to do things better because the power of people is incredible. One person multiplied by millions of people who think the same and do the same things around climate action in terms of finding solutions and being more sustainable, has a massive impact. You can do your part. Because even if you choose to rewear the same dress or the same shirt or the same sari ten more times, it keeps its lifecycle renewed \\u0026ndash; it doesn\\u0026rsquo;t end. Re-wearing it, I feel is the ultimate sustainability in terms of fashion.\\u0026nbsp; Further to that is upcycling and recycling. \\u0026lt;strong\\u0026gt;You can always rewear something and make it look cool. You don\\u0026rsquo;t have to indulge in the mindset that if I don\\u0026rsquo;t have more, people will think I don\\u0026rsquo;t have more. That is exactly what you want people to think, that you don\\u0026rsquo;t have more. No more of more is the policy. If you wear a dress five more times, you should be proud and that\\u0026rsquo;s what makes you cool.
