We caught up with Vladimir Gorobets, General Manager of PUMA Russia and Ukraine, to talk about his career, the peculiarities of PUMA\\u2019s business in those countries as well as well as his vision for the future.\\nAt first sight, Russia and Ukraine are not difficult markets. \\u201cOur favorite shoe is the ST Runner in a triple black colorway,\\u201d Vladimir smiles. \\u201cNothing dramatic: simple, stylish, black and practical.\\u201d The long winters in both countries also require a solid line-up of winterized outfits.\\nBut that where it stops being simple. In order to push high-end products to customers, you have to set up your own retail infrastructure, which is exactly what Vladimir did during his more than 15 years at PUMA.\\nWhen Vladimir was 24, he joined PUMA in his native Ukraine, where he took on the project of establishing owned-and-operated retail stores in the country. \\u201cWhen I started in Ukraine, we had one store,\\u201d Vladimir recalls. In just 3 years\\u2019 time, Vladimir and his team opened 20 PUMA shops in the country.\\nFollowing his success in Ukraine, Vladimir joined the PUMA Russia team as Head of Retail. \\u201cWhen I came to Russia, retail was about 35 percent of the business, five years later it was 50\\\/50, now retail is the majority of the business,\\u201d he says \\u2013 an impressive track record which eventually saw him get promoted to GM of Russia and Ukraine. But Vladimir says that career planning was never the thing that made him get up in the morning.\\n\\u201cTo be honest, I focused on what was right for the brand. I didn\\u2019t think much about career planning. Aber Vladimir sagt, dass die Karriereplanung nie das war, was ihn morgens aufstehen lie\u00df.<br\/>\n<br\/>\"<strong>Um ehrlich zu sein, habe ich mich darauf konzentriert, was f\u00fcr die Marke richtig war. Ich habe nicht viel \u00fcber Karriereplanung nachgedacht. Als er 2010 zu PUMA Russland kam, war es seine Aufgabe, das Unternehmen umzukrempeln und eine Plattform f\u00fcr nachhaltiges Wachstum zu schaffen. \u201c<strong>Am Anfang war ich sehr motiviert und hatte unrealistische Erwartungen, vor allem an mich selbst.<\/strong>,\u201d, erkl\u00e4rt er.<br\/>\n<br\/>Die t\u00e4gliche Arbeitszeit von mehr als 12 Stunden, auch an den Wochenenden, forderte ihren Tribut von seinem K\u00f6rper. Er f\u00fchlte sich sowohl k\u00f6rperlich als auch geistig ersch\u00f6pft.<br\/>\n<br\/>\"<strong>Ich habe die einfache Tatsache ignoriert, dass eine gute Erholung ein wichtiger Teil des Trainings f\u00fcr Sportler und Manager gleicherma\u00dfen ist<\/strong>,\u201d, erinnert er sich. \u201c<strong>Das Beste, was ich tat, war ein Gespr\u00e4ch mit meinem Chef. Er verstand schnell, dass ich kurz vor einem Burn-out stand und riet mir, eine Pause einzulegen<\/strong>.\u201d<br\/>\n<br\/>Nur acht Monate, nachdem Vladimir zum Gesch\u00e4ftsf\u00fchrer f\u00fcr Russland und die Ukraine ernannt worden war, brach die Pandemie aus und zwang beide M\u00e4rkte zu einer Schlie\u00dfung. Viele der Gesch\u00e4fte, f\u00fcr die Vladimir so hart gearbeitet hatte, mussten von einem Tag auf den anderen geschlossen werden.<br\/>\n<br\/>\"<strong>Niemand da drau\u00dfen wusste, wie man mit einer solchen Situation umgehen sollte.<\/strong>,\u201d, sagt Vladimir. Seiner Meinung nach lag der Schl\u00fcssel zum Erfolg von PUMA darin, die Herausforderungen der Pandemie vom ersten Tag an ernst zu nehmen, Kunden und Mitarbeiter zu sch\u00fctzen und gleichzeitig hart daran zu arbeiten, das Gesch\u00e4ft am Laufen zu halten. In Zeiten der Ungewissheit war es auch wichtig, klar zu kommunizieren und transparent zu sein und gleichzeitig den \u201cForever Faster\u201d-Geist zu bewahren, um schnell auf eine sich st\u00e4ndig ver\u00e4ndernde Situation zu reagieren.<br\/>\n<br\/>\"<strong>Als ich diese Krise durchlebte, war ich beeindruckt, denn ich sah viele Beispiele f\u00fcr echte F\u00fchrungsst\u00e4rke, Engagement und sogar Heldentum in meinem lokalen Team und in den Teams auf der ganzen Welt. Die Menschen um mich herum haben mich sehr motiviert!<\/strong>\u201d sagt Wladimir.<br\/>\n<br\/>Und diese Einstellung hat sich ausgezahlt. Trotz der Pandemie konnte PUMA im Jahr 2020 seinen Umsatz sowohl in Russland als auch in der Ukraine stark steigern und Marktanteile von seinen Wettbewerbern \u00fcbernehmen.<br\/>\n<br\/>Langfristig glaubt Vladimir, dass die klare Positionierung von PUMA als Sportmarke dazu beitragen wird, die Glaubw\u00fcrdigkeit der Marke bei den Verbrauchern zu erh\u00f6hen.<br\/>\n<br\/>Um dies zu erreichen, hat PUMA seine Pr\u00e4senz im Fu\u00dfball durch die Zusammenarbeit mit dem ukrainischen Fu\u00dfballmeister Shakhtar Donetsk verst\u00e4rkt. \u201c<strong>Zu Beginn waren wir im ukrainischen Fu\u00dfball \u00fcberhaupt nicht pr\u00e4sent. Der Zusammenschluss mit einem der besten Teams des Landes war also eine gro\u00dfe Neuigkeit f\u00fcr unser Gebiet<\/strong>,\u201d, sagt Vladimir.<br\/>\n<br\/>Auch in Russland hat PUMA sein Portfolio an Vereinen stetig erweitert und zuletzt eine Vereinbarung mit Dynamo Moskau bekannt gegeben, einem Verein mit einer langen und erfolgreichen Geschichte und vielen engagierten und treuen Fans. Im n\u00e4chsten Jahr werden f\u00fcnf der 16 Mannschaften in Russlands h\u00f6chster Spielklasse von PUMA ausgestattet: Dynamo, Krasnodar, Khimki, Rostov sowie Krylia Sovetov, das in der n\u00e4chsten Saison aufsteigen wird.<br\/>\n<br\/>Wie geht es f\u00fcr PUMA in Russland und der Ukraine weiter? Wo sehen wir \u201cOnly See Great\u201d?<br\/>\n<br\/>\"<strong>Generell sehe ich \u00fcberall einen starken Trend zu einem ges\u00fcnderen und sportlicheren Lebensstil. PUMA ist als Marke sehr gut positioniert, um davon zu profitieren.
